Red - New house. Not impressed, didn’t want to move, dad left for ‘tits and teeth’. They were other side of London. House on right flowery, house on left evil. Inside biscuits, moved from Stanhope Gardens to Auntie Steph’s flat for 3 months. Only one friend Noah Conway, big room has mirrors. New school new pals, maybe get bunkbeds for friends to come over, happy then realises Noah has bunk beds. Looks in garden and has trampoline and runs down to play on it.

Red - Sarah tells Red that Marcie was sick and died.

Red - Awake at 5am goes to mum’s bed, breakfast, gets post, sees Frank smoking, Mum taking him to park in the afternoon. Red asks about next door if he’d like to come. Thinks he’s a wizard, beard. Miles the Pigeon – nursed, letter delivered to them that was for Frank.

Red - Posts picture with no yellow.

Red - Find yellow crayon and puts in pocket, ready for the park, mum has to retie shoelaces, pass Franks without posting letter.

Red - Coming back from park four hours later, see Frank with broom trying to knock next door, Mark and Joe – gay couple – usually get him some supplies. Sarah tells him they’re on holiday and asked her to look after the house while they were away. Frank – ‘why not me?’. Red says about them getting him stuff. Sarah not keen as it’ll take ages with Red but Frank finally agrees to look after him while Sarah goes to shop, gives letter first.

Red - You need a longer stick, finds cane. Hide and seek? Yard too small, I-Spy – gate, lamp post, Frank uninterested.

Red - Sarah returns with shopping, got Red pokemon cards, picks up dropped wrapper and puts it in the bin where he sees the allosaurus picture he drew for Frank.

Red - Sitting on step waiting to speak to Frank during his morning smoke. Frank talking to himself about smoking. Sees Red and jumps. Red had imaginary dog friend and a pigeon Miles. Not at school as it was a Saturday. Supposed to be with Dad but is working. Back to earlier, Sarah on phone to Jamie (Red’s dad) cancelling today. Red unpacking before his mum told him. Heather (Jamies new girlfriend) and new house, Heather has twin girls. Wasn’t really looking forward to it. Football etc, but sweets and cola and maybe see Noah. Finishes that he was talking to Frank who finished his cigarette and goes inside.

Red - Running late for school, arrive at school to see Mrs Mills, Head Teacher. Red runs back and hugs mum. Mrs Payton class teacher – Class Two Caterpillars. Red concerned the class might be actual caterpillars.

Red - Sarah excited to see him, made laser blaster, Jake Barnet sneering looking back. Sarah wanted to hear everything about his day. Table buddies- Warren and Jake, Jake has mad eyes, Amelie – pretty girl, Shark picture and facts, Jake “sharks are stupid”, Red “No they’re not…”, Jake angry about being proved wrong. Class never spoke to him and Jake horrible. Says to mum “They’re nice”. Break ‘friendship bench’, Amelie joins him briefly, she seen Jake spill water on purpose over picture, dinner and raining so stayed in.

Red - In school lots of Jesuses and Marys. Teacher talking and not paying attention neither were others – Jake, Callum and nose picker, priest talks of ‘Good Samaritan’, wants storm so he doesn’t have to go out and make friends. Kris Acabusi signed picture up, Jake was the class boss, decided everything. Second day smiled at everyone, didn’t work and drew attention, split in groups in class, thought he made friends but at break they ran off in different directions. He ended up wandering around school. The hardest part is the walk home with mum embellishing truth.

Red - Teacher insists Red goes out to play football, ends up as goaly – not very good lots of goals and lost interest and they end up kicking it at him instead of scoring, washing hands Jake comes over and soaks his crotch. Thursday pretends to be sick to get off school, has a plan for dad at the weekend.

Red - Dumbledore, school ca, Thursday and Friday drag, runs out of school on Friday and sees dad, he had to change plans and so no football on sat, this is good as he can start his plan earlier. Going to Nandos, surprised by “the girls” and Heather in the car. Red get time alone with his dad and tells him everything that’s been happening in school. Dad says it’s all change and it’ll just take time.

Red - Fed up, makes a good/bad list, good empty. Dad was going away with Heather ‘Brooj’, Sarah saw on her Insta and is also in a bad mood. Argument, Red had TV loud and asked to turn it down, Red talks back ‘Hate everything’, Sarah ‘like it or not we are home’. One hour later sitting in garden thinking of running away.

Red - Visitor at school, Kika, guide dog. Best day in a while, walking out chatting with Amelie, ‘He’s playing’. Played redlight, greenlight, floor is lava. Told of Jake peeing himself. After Jake ‘Playing with girls’ Red and Amelie build castle together at break, Jake breaks it and Amelie angry.

Red - ‘Day of incident’, wants to make up with Amelie going to give her a pokemon card, Jake takes it and won’t give it back, rips it in half. Red snaps and throws a punch.

Red - Red swings punch missed and hit fish tank which smashed and fish died. Head Teachers office, Sarah called, week suspension.

Red - Packs to go to Franks

Red - Franks rules – 1: Don’t touch anything, 2: Don’t get under my feet. Frank reading paper, Red asking questions, games, books.

Red - Lunch, talks about crisps, his Allosaurus pic on fridge, Sarah phones.

Red - Sarah back just after 3, Red learnt snooker rules, Guess Who?, Sarah always had a crush on Phillip. 5-2 to Red, Beano. Pics of Mikey, Frank sleeping, Red snoops around house… Envelope delivered to wrong house open, Christening invite.

Red - Reflection Diary.

Red - In garden to fix fence, shed broke in to, Frank need to phone someone.

Red - Feeds pigeon, Miles Two, talks of school teachers. Ken calls surprised Frank outside.

Red - Starts painting fence – Red going camping with dad in Summer, Sarah calls says his dad is definitely, definitely, definitely picking him up on Sunday… Gets frank and himself a drink.

Red - Both fell asleep, were watching TV, Red on tablet, it dies and nothing on TV, waked Frank, DVDs and watch film. Sarah come in both asleep, Reflection Diary.

Red - Gardening and painting, Frank eating sandwich, Ken comes for toolbag, asks about invite to Christening. Ken writes ‘Don’t be a bloody idiot’ and sticks invite to fridge.

Red - Frank mad, have argument.

Red - Frank and Red ignore each other. Frank sleeping, Red repairs invite and finds ‘Dear Michael’ letter.

Red - Tells mum he was snooping – Reflection Diary. Remembers letter, letter to Michael.

Red - Red finds out that adults are idiots. Plans how to send letter and convinces himself that what Frank wanted. Frank suspicious, Jigsaw finished – inaccurate. Red plans to deliver envelope himself.

Red - Packs and leaves letter for mum “important mission”, take train in morning before mum gets up. Reflection diary.

Red - Got up when it was dark and leaving when it was bright goes back in to get sunglasses, get to train station. Ninja conductors, he joins a group of kids to get past barrier and onto train. Marathon today.

Red - On train, eats, route cancelled and has to change but doesn’t and waits. Cleaner sees him and he runs off.

Red - Unsure what to do, two rivers, two directions, of people. Bongo guy smells of plants. Eany meany to choose. Gets on train, falls asleep.

Red - Wakes up, carriage near empty, woman Carmel says hello to him, says she’s also go the wrong train and line. Gives Fruit Pastille. Carmel gets off train with him and uses British Transport Police phone.

Red - Police come, take him to office, tells them his name and where he’s going but not home or parents’ names. Deal that if they take him there he’ll tell them

Red - Police car to Mikey’s.

Red - At house woman comes round from back, Gemma and Dave (police), Ellie Hayes, shows Mikey Frank’s invitation. Red tells Mikey all about build up to letter and that Frank is scared. About to give him letter when he hears his mum’s voice.

Red - His mum taking him away, Red ran back and empties bag to get letter. Dave grabs him and the letter floats away.

Red - Two months later, Playing in Garden through hole in fence, Frank leaves back door open. Cast coming off tomorrow. Heather and his dad split up and he sees him more. Flashback – In school everyone welcomed him back including Jake and signed cast.
